This design exercise will challenge students to think critically about the essential ingredients of
complete urban neighborhoods. Brickell Key is the case study location upon which your developing theories of urban design will be tested.
First, the proposal should be aligned with an appropriate measure of fiscal and environmental sustainability. At minimum, the number of dwelling units and the base flood elevations should be matched. Second, plans must include a proposal to augment public transportation (ferry, trolly, light-rail, etc.). Third, housing shall include a range of housing types, and a conceptual strategy for affordability.
